On Monday, May 9, 2016, Fine Tobacco Club hosted A Midsmoking Night’s Dram at Bar and Books Lexington on the Upper East Side.
About the evening
Our first evening at Lexington Bar & Books paired new cigars from La Pluma with two scotches, Bunnahabhain 12 Year and Black Bottle, before guests moved on to the bar’s extensive rare scotch menu.
La Pluma, one of the most exciting new brands out of New York at the time, is blended by Jonathan Maccia at the Plasencia factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. The Bunnahabhain brought a fresh nose with a whiff of smoke, light fruit and nut, and a long malty sweetness. Black Bottle ran from floral notes to deep oak, carried on spice-flecked wisps of peat smoke.
