About the evening
February’s Straight Up & Toasted paired the Casta Brazilian Mago with two whiskies from Ardbeg, the distillery Jim Murray long called the finest in the world: Uigeadail and An Oa.
The Mago wears a ten-year-old Mata Norte Brazilian maduro wrapper and is rolled using the tubular technique used at Cohiba. Uigeadail, a former World Whisky of the Year, marries Ardbeg’s deep smoke with raisiny sherry-cask tones. An Oa is rounded in Ardbeg’s new Gathering Vat.
