The Carnegie Club Reopens With Outside Seating

Starting on Tuesday, July 7th, The Carnegie Club is reopening for the first time since it closed on March 16th due to the global pandemic. Scott Asbury, Carnegie Club’s manager confirmed via email that the legendary cigar bar will open outdoor seating for the first time in its history.

Key details on the opening include:

  • Establishment Hours: 3pm – 9pm
  • Tables will be spaced 6 feet
  • Guest masks are not required except in order to use the restroom
  • Staff masks required at all times
  • With limited seating, reservations are suggested
  • RSVPS can be made on the Carnegie Club website or via email at info@hospitalityholdings.com
  • Happy Hour 3pm-6pm  consisting of select $6 beers, $8 wines and $11 cocktails

Scott explained in his email that Carnegie Club may extend the hours and days of operation depending on the demand. He went on to write

“The situation will be very fluid and we will be constantly refining how we do everything since this is uncharted territory.  We were planning on waiting for Phase 3 to start this Monday for indoor seating but when they cancelled it we felt compelled to be proactive and just assume that indoor seating will not be allowed for awhile and that we have to adapt to survive. 

We got our approval for outdoor seating and met up at The Carnegie Club shortly after to figure out how we could pull this off in a matter of days.  We ordered some open air tents that should be arriving today and some barricades to claim our street space.  We will come up with some branded banners to cover up the metal on the barricades but will not likely have them in time for opening so it may not be pretty at first but in the interest of getting started we are going to go with what we have and improve it as we go.  

As you know we have never had outdoor seating and are not set up for that so it will be like starting a whole new business.  Mistakes will be made and that’s fine.  We will make it work and most importantly listen to any and all feedback from everyone.  I do hope we can figure out a way to hold events too.  I’ve already got a few ideas on how but I still want to see how things develop.”

As much as we are all eagerly awaiting the reopening of our indoor cigar lounges in NYC, it’s refreshing to see cigar bars like The Carnegie Club take the lead on reopening.

The Carnegie Club Hosts the “Fall Smoker” with El Cedro Cigars and Johnnie Walker Platinum

On October 23rd, The Carnegie Club hosted the “Fall Smoker” with special sponsorship from El Cedro Cigars and Johnnie Walker Platinum. During the event, more than 120 cigar smokers enjoyed the new line from El Cedro Cigars, which has received high reviews from many cigar reviewers (including this site as well).  Guests also enjoyed a tasting of Johnnnie Walker Platinum, aged 18 years. The night also included live music and a raffle of a box of El Cedro Cigars and a bottle of Johnnie Walker Green Label.

“Fall Smoker” is part of a long-standing tradition of seasonal events offered by the Carnegie Club. For years, New York City cigar smokers have chosen the iconic cigar bar as a haven from busy life in the city. The Carnegie Club also partners with FineTobaccoNYC on cigar and whiskey pairings, including the new, original pairing series called “Straight Up & Toasted.”

FineTobaccoNYC Hosts Second “Straight Up & Toasted” Pairing Event at the Carnegie Club

On Wednesday, September 18th, FineTobaccoNYC and the Carnegie Club teamed up to present another edition of Straight Up & Toasted. The event featured cigars from Espinosa Cigars and Moya Ruiz Cigars, as well as a special selection of bourbon and rye from Bulleit Whiskey Co.

The evening event, open to the public, started at 8:00pm. Around the same time, the Stan Rubin Quartet livened up the atmosphere with a selection of new and old jazz numbers. Approximately 150 attended the event and enjoyed cigars, whiskey, live music, and special item raffles throughout the evening.

Guests also shared the event with friends online via social media using the hashtag #CarnegieClub. Below is a selection of social media stories generated during the event.

FineTobaccoNYC Hosts First “Straight Up & Toasted” Pairing Event at the Carnegie Club

On Wednesday, June 5th, FineTobaccoNYC hosted a cigar and spirits pairing at the Carnegie Club, one of New York’s most iconic cigar bars. The complimentary event, billed as “Straight Up & Toasted,” featured the Reinado Cigars Grand Empire Reserve and Rough Rider bourbon from Long Island Spirits.

About 150 guests attended the free event, enjoying cigars and bourbon well into the evening.

Other features of the night included live music, giveaways of a box of Reinado cigars, a bottle of Rough Rider single barrel bourbon, and other accessory raffle items.

The event was such a success that FineTobaccoNYC and the Carnegie Club are now planning another “Straight Up & Toasted” event. Special thanks to Reinado Cigars and Long Island Spirits.

Carnegie Club to Host “The Fall Smoker” with Bushmills and Camacho

Our friends at the Carnegie Club have just announced that this Thursday (November 8th), the club will be hosting Bushmills whiskey and Camacho Corojo cigars. What’s more, the event is free and open to the public. The event starts at 8:00pm, and members of FineTobaccoNYC will be there representing. The Carnegie Club has a long history of hosting quality events, so we hope to see you there!
