Gold For Glendronach and Benriach in London

Every now and again a press release drops through my inbox that I have to share. This one is worth sharing for sure. I have a lot of good friends who are now going to be keeping a closer eye Glendronach and BenRiach Scotch Whiskey (and a few who are now going to pick some up).  Take a look at the awards below.

ON the opening day of the Olympics, the BenRiach Distillery Company is delighted to have won two golds, five silvers and a bronze medal!

The Edinburgh-headquartered company is celebrating eight awards, not at London 2012 of course, but at this year’s International Wine & Spirits Competition, the world’s most prestigious wine and spirit contest.

The results were announced today (27 July) in London.

We’re particularly delighted with the Gold Medal for the GlenDronach 12YO – this is our flagship GlenDronach expression, and we’ve invested heavily in the wood management programme at the distillery, so it’s satisfying to see that effort come to fruition.”

Rich honey, spices, apples and peat, in combination with superb oak-wood notes.

TASTE
A rich cocktail of honey, Oloroso sherry, cocoa and apples, supported by a fascinating presence of citrus, sweet peat and wonderful wood notes.

GlenDronach 12 yo

NOSE
Sweet, creamy vanilla, with hints of ginger. Autumn fruits.

TASTE
Rich, creamy, silky-smooth. Warm, rich oak and sherry sweetness, full mouth feel, raisins and soft fruits. Spicy with medium length and a dry finish.

Rocky Patel Launches Burn

Press Release: PDR Cigars Announces Release of the Reserva Superior Salomon

(Miami, FL) – July 28th, 2012: PDR Cigars USA, which boasts some of the most distinctive blend profiles in the premium boutique cigar market is excited to announce the release of their most artisanal vitola to date, the 6×66 Salomon which will debut at this year’s IPCPR trade show in Orlando, FL on August 2nd.

The Reserva Superior Line is a Limited Edition line first introduced by PDR Cigars at last year’s IPCPR convention in Las Vegas with a 2000 box production run that was only available at the convention. The Reserva Superior Salomon will be a terrific addition to the portfolio. The Salomon will sport a double wrapper comprised of a maduro coupled with a natural wrapper at the foot and on the head of the stem. With an 80 year history in cigar making the PDR Cigars factory will showcase the skill and attention to detail possessed by its master rollers in the making of this beautiful offering. Now in its 8th year of independent operation, under the leadership of Abraham Flores PDR Cigars has continued to offer cigar enthusiasts a solid selection of flavorful, well-made cigars. The Reserva Superior Salomon will be yet another testament to PDR Cigars’ commitment in that regard.

The filler is Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Lancaster PA. The Reserva Superior Salomon will only be available at the IPCPR convention in Orlando FL next week. With a box production of only 500 this rare offering will be limited to select retailers throughout the country.

Press Release: General Cigar and Hill & Partners to Participate at IPCPR 2012

8/2/2012 – Hill & Partners, Inc. will partner again with General Cigar Company Inc. to bring the premier manufacturer and marketer of hand-made imported cigars in the United States to the IPCPR (International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association) 80th Annual Convention & Trade Show to be held August 2-6 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

The creative team at Hill& Partners will design and manage a custom rental hybrid with a footprint covering 8,000 sq ft. The eclectic exhibit will impart unique brand presence to a variety of General Cigar’s diverse portfolio of products, incorporating five separate branded environments under one flagship custom designed property.

The Macanudo brand will be promoted with a golf-themed display, complete with a putting competition; winners will receive General Cigar branded Calloway accessories. The World Golf Tournament will be broadcast live over three monitors. The inviting display will include cocktail tables and stools where visitors can take a break and watch the Tournament and the putting competition.
The CAO brand will premier its newest cigar, the “Concert”, at a corner station with a musical theme. Featured will be a small stage with CAO branded instruments and concert equipment. Live concerts will be broadcast on the CAO monitors, further bringing the concert theme to life.

The Punch brand will be represented by a “tailgating” theme, complete with a Punch blimp floating overhead, a branded tent, pick-up truck, chairs, tables and other “tailgating” accessories. Attendees will be able to enjoy NFL highlights on two screens while a massively scaled model of the Punch 6-pack promo will anchor the space, standing over 8-feet tall.

The La Gloria Cubana gazebo will simulate the look and atmosphere of the Dominican Republic. Built with a thatch roof, the area will feature a cigar roller to hand roll cigars on site and add an extra element of interaction for trade show attendees.

Zino Mobile Luxury Lounge Goes on Tour

A few weeks ago, we wrote a short post on the increasing popularity of mobile cigar lounges. It looks like Zino has picked up on that trend and is celebrating their ten year anniversary with a nationwide tour. Press release below:

Zino Platinum, an ultra-premium cigar brand, unveils newest addition at international tradeshow, in celebration of ten-year anniversary. Zino Platinum pushes the boundaries of design with the unveiling of the newest addition to the brand, a mobile cigar lounge. The once-blank canvas, a Mercedes Sprinter 2500EXT, is now outfitted for the ultimate cigar lounge experience. The mobile lounge has every technological toy encased in it’s completely custom interior, including three new iPads, four 40” Westinghouse LCD TV’s, Sony Playstation 3, Apple TV, DirecTV, an LG BluRay player and a home audio system to support all. The mobile lounge wouldn’t be complete without the three built-in Zino Platinum Cavern humidors fitted in the rear and a custom cabinet humidor built into the interior.

Regius of London Cigars exclusively distributed in the USA by SAG Imports

August 1, 2012 — SAG Imports will be the exclusive distributor of Regius Cigars in the United States. The brand, rolled in Nicaragua at the Plasencia factory in Esteli, was originally created primarily to satisfy demand in England. Now spread throughout European and Asian Markets, Regius is sold at prestigious establishments such as Davidoff of London and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong, as well as Davidoff of New York and Nat Sherman in the domestic market.

British brand-owner Ahkil Kapacee has now partnered with SAG to expand their presence into the US market. SAG will now carry Regius’ core line as well as a new edition, Regius White Label, made in the Dominican Republic at Manuel Quesada’s MATASA factory. This new line will debut at the IPCPR this week.
